The Portland Swimming Club is a proud recipient of Round 2 2025-2026 Glenelg Shire Council Community Grants Program. With this funding, the club will introduce Swimming Victoria's FUN Swim program to the region at the Portland Leisure and Aquatic Centre. FUN Swim will provide young swimmers with a positive pathway into the club environment and competitive swimming, delivered by our Swimming Australia qualified coaches. FUN Swim gets swimmers 'race ready' in an encouraging and supportive way.

This grant funding will assist in delivery of coaching and the purchase of FUN Swim take home packs that include a swim bag, swim cap and drink bottle and will assist in eliminating financial barriers, enabling families to participate and pursue the sport of Swimming. Thank you Glenelg Shire Council - We are very grateful for this opportunity.

The Portland Sporting Group was also a proud recipient of the Round 2 2025-2026 Glenelg Shire Council Community Grants Program. The group comprises the Portland Swimming Club Victoria Australia, the Portland Cycling Club , the Portland Runners Club - Victoria Australia, and the future Portland Triathlon Club (formally Portland Y-Tri) forming a partnership Memorandum of Understanding with the goal being to share the then Swimming Club's club rooms. Now they utilise the building together under the collective name The Portland Sporting Group Inc. The object of the formation is to ensure smooth and coordinated management of the clubrooms.

The allocation of secure space for storage of equipment and sharing of resources such as equipment and volunteers for each others events is essential. The grant funding will enable the Sporting Group to purchase a shared BBQ for the local sporting clubs creating a central hub for community connection at training and local events thus strengthening collaboration, decisions and resource sharing. Thank you Glenelg Shire Council.
