Last week the Portland Sporting Group came together to celebrate the unity of the sporting clubs and the collaboration of resources including volunteer sharing and equipment for events. The Portland Sporting Group combines the Portland Swimming Club, the Portland Cycling Club , the Portland Runners Club, and the future Portland Triathlon Club (formally Portland Y-Tri) sharing clubrooms, volunteers and equipment.
The Portland Sporting Group is a recipient of the Round 2 2025-2026 Glenelg Shire Council Community Grants Program enabling the clubs to purchase a shared BBQ. Portland Swimming Club Secretary Rachael Healy says the BBQ will help create a central hub for community connection. "This will enable future fundraising activities and encourage the clubs to socially come together, strengthen community connections and keep planning for the future."
